The World Expo is the deemed to be the greatest of the all events. In years past it was customary for the leaders of thought, science and invention to travel great lengths to interact with other revolutionaries of their time. It was also a place to showcase the latest inventions of the world.
Expo dates back to 1851 in London, but the event gained world recognition in 1889 in Paris.
My 2 year anniversary is a symbolic one.
Last year at the exact same time my wife and I had vacation plans to visit Hawaii.
I had the entire trip booked only to cancel last minute because of the unmissable opportunity of high stakes poker in Macau.
I gave myself many justifications for missing the trip:
It takes a minute to acclimate to Asia, especially coming from the Western world, where the slightest inconvenience is met with disdain. Poor hygiene, air pollution and the lack of infrastructure are superficial differences one notices immediately when touching down.
Once you accept these things (a mental ‘jet lag’), your journey begins.
Phuket makes that transition easy.
The Novotel Monaco has been on a journey with me for several years. By happenstance it ended up being the go to place for me whenever I need a jurisdiction to play some online poker (while in Europe I’m based in Italy and France which don’t allow international online poker).
While living in Antibes, France last year for example I was longing to punt.
